Appreciating our Veterans: November is a time to remember and honour those who have died in past wars and conflicts while serving our country, as well as those who served or continue to serve today. Last year we created a list of names of past/retired/current Veterans that are especially important to our own St. Margaret School Community. This list includes family members or friends that serve/served representing Canada or anywhere in the world in any capacity. These names are on an ‘Honour Roll’. This Honour Roll is a focal point at our Remembrance Day Celebration and is later transferred to our school Religion showcase in the front foyer to share with the students in our school.
We need your help: If you would like to add a name to our list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, November 6th, and put ‘Honour Roll’ in the subject line. Print their name, rank and where they served if you know it. For example:
Wilbert Stanley Sutton (Great-Grandfather to Mrs. Avery) – Army (Sergeant), WW1, killed in action, France
We know that we have new families and staff in our community this year, and we would like to invite you to submit names of those you would like us to add to our St. Margaret Honour Roll. NOTE: If you have submitted a name in the past, it is on our list! If you can’t remember, send it along and we can check for you!
Uniforms: If your child belongs to a Girl Guides, Boy Scouts or Cadets Troop, please have them wear their uniform with pride on November 10th at school to show respect to our Veterans.
Please join us: Our Celebration will begin at 10:45 a.m. on November 10th in our gym.
