During Catholic Education this week, our school will be continuing to work towards meeting the goals our Healthy Schools committee had set for ourselves at the beginning of the school year.

As Disciples of Christ, we know how important it is to look after one another. Last year, we as a school community, collected data within each of our classrooms about areas in which we feel we need to continue working on when it comes to our Health (Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Physical etc.). Through surveying students, it was evident that Mental Health was one of the areas in which students felt they needed the most improvement.

This year our Healthy Schools committee, has created grade-appropriate presentations for each of our classrooms and has geared the presentation to teach our students how to improve their Mental Wellness, with a focus on how to tackle feelings of anxiety/worry. The presentations are geared to give our students strategies and tools on how to overcome feelings of worry/anxiety on a day-to-day basis.

Our committee of eager student leaders embark on their Mental Health Awareness Tour around our school. The hope is that our students realize that “we are all in this together”!
