To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.        ~ Mark Nolan

Mr. Jodie Schnarr,

your Principal

Lord God,

You loved this world so much,

That you gave your one and only Son,

That we might be called your children too.

Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace

Of Easter, every day.

Let us have hearts of thankfulness

For your sacrifice.

Let us have eyes that look upon

Your grace and rejoice in our salvation.

Help us to walk in that mighty grace

And tell your good news to the world.

All for your glory do we pray, Lord,

Please remember our Safe Arrival Program. It is the Parent’s/ Guardian’s obligation to call the school if students are absent (519-622-6100). If students are late, they must check in at the office, sign in and take a late pass to be welcomed into the class.

Student Lunches: When special lunches are brought to the school, they are left at the office with the child’s name and classroom labelled on them. Students are expected to come to the office to pick them up at lunch time.

During the month of March, we focused on the skill of AUTONOMY!

The April Umbrella Skill is Intrinsic Motivation.

Intrinsic motivation is:

·         Motivation that comes from inside you instead of from external rewards like money or grades

·         The pleasure a person gets from the task itself

·         The drive to do something because it is interesting, challenging and absorbing

·         The motivation to adopt or change a behavior for your own happiness

When we are intrinsically motivated we do activities simply for enjoyment, and we don’t worry as much about the reward at the end. Failing to hit the goals, marks or achievements we are hoping for it can be tough, especially when the outcome was the only thing we cared about. When we enjoy the process, it takes some of the stress off the end result and makes us feel happier overall. In fact, being intrinsically motivated increases our success at the end of the day.

1.     Increases time spent in a positive mood

2.     Improves engagement at school

3.     Higher levels of academic success

4.     Improves creativity

5.     Improves our coping strategies

6.     Helps us stick with tasks longer

We are excited about the upcoming ECO Fair. It is a collaboration between St. Margaret and Clemens Mill students on Tuesday April 16th in the St. Margaret school gym. Thanks to Mrs. Sullivan for her leadership to make this event happen.

Popcorn sales will continue every Friday for only $1.00!!

We continue to monitor SAFETY during pick up and drop off times before school and at the end of the day. We are working with Cambridge By-Law to help identify safe areas for pick up and drop off. Please do not park in front of the entrance or use the designated parking spots. Staff, Taxi’s, Board personnel need to access the parking lot

Thank you for respecting our ‘Student Safety Zone’ sign at the entrance to our parking lot. I thank the staff that volunteer to be at the gates in the morning and afterschool. Also, please be extra safe while picking up on the road. Please do not block driveways, and do not let students cross the road unattended to be picked up. Please respect our friends at the YMCA.

Remember to sign up for our Wednesday Pizza lunches at

Our next meeting is Monday May 27th at 6:15 p.m. in the school Literacy Room.

April 2019 Fitbit – Family Meal Time

Make meal time family time. Families that eat together tend to have better eating habits and eat more vegetables and fruits. Turn off the TV, put away electronic devices like smartphones and tablets and sit down at the table together.

Sitting down together for a meal is a great opportunity to check in with each other and share stories about your day. Eating together also provides an opportunity for positive role modeling, while encouraging healthy habits. Make meal time family time; you’ll be glad you did!

Try making this easy and delicious dish with your family. Talk about where each food item came from and how the meal was made.

Possible Student Walk Out Today

Dear St. Margaret Parents/ Guardians,

It has come to our attention that some students at St. Margaret are planning a student walkout on Thursday, April 4, 2019 protesting the provincial government’s recent changes to education.  This walkout is occurring at some schools across the region, and indeed across many boards.   Information and messages are being circulated on social media, email and web sites. These planned student walkouts are not Board/School sanctioned events.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board values the students’ voice, and a vision of the learner that includes what it means to be a responsible citizen, a reflective thinker, and a discerning believer. Our school administration and office staff will follow regular attendance/ safe arrival procedures and report the missed class(es) to the parent/ guardian as soon as possible. Our school staff will not be supervising students who participate in the protest as it remains a regular school day.

We sincerely appreciate your partnership in the education of your children. Our priority is to support the learning and well-being of students while maintaining a safe environment.

Please direct any questions/ concerns to the main office.

Mr. Jodie Schnarr

WCDSB School Climate Survey

All parents and guardians of St. Margaret Catholic School to complete the School Climate Survey.

The purpose of the climate survey is to find out about bullying/harassment, including discrimination, sexual harassment, and homophobia, amongst students at school.

The information will be used by the principal and staff to help promote an environment of respect, safety, and belonging for all students.  Your answers are confidential. We are interested in what you and other school members have to say.

If you have any questions/comments, please contact the WCDSB Research Coordinator at

WCDSB Budget 2019 2020

Parents and Guardians:

Please consider completing the WCDSB 2019-2020 budget survey.  The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. The Board values input from stakeholders and your feedback helps ensure that budgets are aligned according to the Board, school and stakeholder needs.

The survey will be open until March 27th, 2019.  The survey results will be made available after they have been presented to the Board’s Budget Advisory Committee.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to the survey.
